So we were planning on finishing our recording of our Chinese movie today. We got together and started finishing the track scene. Then we drove to an alley to shoot the last scene. Jamison kept his car keys in my backpack. When we got out of the car, I had my backpack on out of habit. David said "why don't you leave your backpack in the car?" so I put it back in.
We shot part of the scene, but the battery in the camera ran out (the guy who was our cameraman never turned it off between scenes). So we went back to the car so we could drive to someone's apartment and charge it. Jamison asked for his keys. They were in his backpack...
We all stared at the car.
"How are we gonna fix this...?"
One guy suggested breaking a window. Jamison was like "Yeah...I'd really rather you not do that."
So we tried walking to the police office, but it was closed. Everything in on main street closes at 6:00!! Eventually we ran into a girl who was just about to lock up at the tux shop. She gave us a few wire hangers.
So we went back to the car and the guys unraveled the hangers and tried to get under the window to unlock the car. They tried that for about 45 minutes. Finally, one of the guys decided he'd try to catch a ride from someone and go to a store and buy a slim jim. A while after he left, Jamison and another guy decided they'd go to Little Cesars and get some pizza while we waited. So I was left with David for a while. He was so determined to use that wire to unlock the car!
After a few minutes, someone pulled into the parking lot and asked if we needed any help. He got out and opened his trunk and revealed a very nifty looking contraption. He stuck a thing into the door and started pumping a handle thing. A rubber balloon inflated, giving a bunch of space between the door and the car. He then put in this metal thing with a plastic/rubber end and flipped the lock. He did it in like 10 seconds!
David was like "dang, how much does one of those things cost?"
The guy said "a license."
Apparently he worked for an autoshop or something, I don't know. But they don't just sell those to anyone.
So everyone came back and we decided to wrap up the day. We'll finish the movie on Saturday.

Movie Making
On Thursday, I went to Children of Eden. A lot of people said it was really sacrilegious, but I didn't think it was that bad. Overall, I really liked it.
I saw David there, though. And he was holding hands with what I assume is his girlfriend. So I had to force myself to get over him. It only took a day before I wasn't upset anymore.
On Friday, Benny Kuo (from IHS) came to visit. He was baptized by Matthew Cook about a year ago (It was Matt who baptized him, right?)
He graduates this year and he's thinking of coming to BYU-I. He's already been accepted, but there's another college in Oregon he's considering too. We (Rikke, Cammi, and I) took Benny and his mom to Craigo's and then to the BYUI sign to take a picture.
Then they went to the Brahms concert, and Rikke, Cammi and I went to Idaho Falls. They had rings that they bought and needed to pick up.
Afterwards we went to Kari's! It was so nice to see them again! Rikke and Cammi said they were baby hungry, so they agreed to go with me haha. I can't wait to see them again in two weeks!
On Saturday I woke up at 8:30 and met with my Chinese group (David and Jamison) at 10. We worked until 3:30 to get our Chinese movie recorded. We didn't quite finish though because we could only have the camera checked out for four hours. So we got everything recorded except for one scene, which hopefully we'll record on Wednesday.
Here are some screen caps from the movie.
It's taking a really long time to put it together, though. The recorder we used recorded the videos in .MTS format, which I'd never heard of before. My VLC video player can play them, so I used that to go through the vids and pick which ones to use, but Windows Movie Maker can only read certain video fortmats.
I had a few problems trying to convert the videos. I have a program called Any Video Converter, so I tried to convert it to .WMV using that, but when I did, the video went really really fast. So I tried converting it to .AVI or .MPG or .MP4, but those made the videos really slow...
So my friend Tommy told me to download a program called HandBrake. Handbrake lets you control the fps when you convert video, but it can only convert to .MP4, so I had to use Handbrake to make it .MP4, then use AVC to make it .WMV.
So it takes several minutes just to get 10 seconds worth of video in Movie Maker.
So I spent all day yesterday after I got home until I went to bed, and today since noon working on it. I'm almost done putting together what we have, though :)

Shopping Trip
Last Monday for FHE we went to a park and fed the ducks and then played frisbee. It was cooold.
On Saturday night, Ray, Lee, Rikke, Cammi, Lee, Vanessa, JJ, Mike, and Justin came over and we watched Ringu. I heard it was scarier than the Ring, but it really wasn't very scary.
And then today we had an almost all day shopping trip! Me, Alicia, and Vanessa drove down to IF and shopped from 2:00 until 5:00. At 5:30 we saw Bounty Hunter, and then after that we shopped for another hour. Alicia ended up spending about $150 and Vanessa spent about $80. I only spent about $30 or so. Whenever I tried something on, I'd look at myself and decide how much I would be willing to spend on it, and then I'd look at the tag. If it was even $1 over what I decided was a good price, I wouldn't get it. So I put back almost everything that I tried on :/
I ended up with one shirt, one skirt, and a ped-egg type thing and foot cream (I really want to have nice feet!)

Home and Family Conference
On Saturday, I went to the Home and Family Conference. It was from 9am - 3:30pm. I had to pay $8 to go, but it was really good, and I get extra credit for my family relations class.
I took about two pages of notes for every presentation, they were really informative. There were a bunch of classes you could go to, but you could only pick one every hour. I went to "Filling Your Empty Cup", "Friends, Facebook, Fidelity", "Raising Teenagers", and "Heart, Body, and Soul".
It was really worth it :)
Then right after, I met with my Chinese group. We finished making our story and got a rough draft of our script done. I'm excited to start recording it hopefully this week.

20!
I had a really good birthday!
I was woken up by Alicia and Kortney putting balloons all over my bed. Somehow they thought it wouldn't wake me up... Haha.
In Chinese, Sister Shen said we were going to sing to someone else whose birthday it was, but David shouted "It's Kayli's birthday too!" so the class sang to both of us.
After my classes, I opened my presents. Thank you, mom! And thank you to Grandmas and Aunt Myrle for sending me cards! At 6:00, we went to Wingers. Me, Rikke, Cammi, Alicia, Vanessa, Kortney, and Joseph. I thought it was kind of funny that I only invited Alicia and Kortney. Alicia invited Vanessa, Kortney invited Joseph, and Rikke invited herself and then invited Cammi. I'm glad everyone came, though!
After that, we all came back to my apartment and hung out and played games. We had lots of fun!
I can't believe I'm 20!! I'm so old!

Last Week
I'm a little late on the updates.
Today is my birthday, but I'll make a separate post about that.
The only things I can remember about last week is that on Saturday, Alicia did my hair. She's been using my hair for style experiments lately, and I like it.And then on Sunday, we had the ward Sweet Swap at our apartment. Technically it was in 8 AND 9, but I'm pretty sure almost everyone came to ours because I couldn't take a step without running into someone. I'm sure there were at least 50 people squeezed into there. It was fun, though.
On Monday, David asked me to study with him again so we did. He was an hour late though because he had to meet with his recruiter. But it went good.
And then for FHE, only me and Alicia went because Kortney was taking a test and Mileah was who knows where. We didn't end up doing an activity, we just kind of talked for the hour. It was nice, though. They found out I love McDonald's so after FHE two of my brothers drove me and Alicia there :)
